101 - Membership in God's Family
Would you join a club that you didn't know what they believed or expected of you? We wouldn't want you to join a church that you didn't understand what it believed or even what it expected of you as a member, so we created San Marcos 101 which gives you the essentials of what San Marcos is all about and in what direction we see God leading us as a family of God. The class is about 4 hours long and ends with an explanation of San Marcos' membership covenant. Eph. 2:19(LB), Rom. 12:4-5(LB)

| Other 100 Level Classes:
"AM I GOOD ENOUGH"
A one on one or small group study for seekers in search of a deeper understanding of God's plan of salvation. This class is a great way of cutting through the myth and misunderstandings surrounding the Gospel and building an understanding of the concept of grace. To be a part of this class, call or email our Pastor.
These classes are open to age 13 through adult. |

201 - Discovering Christian Discipleship
This class is the second of San Marco's four basic classes. Since these classes build on each other, you must first attend Discovering Church Membership #101 before taking this class.
THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLASS:
" ... that you may become mature Christians and may fulfill God's will for you."
Col. 4:12b (Ph)
"We are not meant to remain as children ... but to grow up in every way into Christ..."
Eph. 4:14-15 (Ph)
THE FOCUS OF THIS CLASS:
We will focus on the Four Basic Habits every Christian needs to develop in order to grow to spiritual maturity.
TIME WITH GOD'S WORD: "If you continue in my Word, then you are my disciples indeed. And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." John 8:31-32
PRAYER: "If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, then you will ask for anything you wish, and you shall have it ... in this way you become my disciples." John 15:7-8 (GN)
TITHING: "None of you can be my disciple unless he gives up all of his possessions." Luke 14:33 (JB)
"The purpose of tithing is to teach you to always put God first in your lives." Deut. 14:23 (LB)
FELLOWSHIP: "Love each other just as much as I love you. Your strong love for each other will prove to the world that you are my disciples." John 13:34-35 (LB)
This class will ...
Equip you with the skills you need to begin these habits.
Explain the tools you need to continue these habits.
Why do we need to develop our habits of discipleship?
"... You have put off the old self with its HABITS, and have put on the new self ... which God is continually renewing in his own image, to bring you to a full knowledge of himself."
Col. 3:9-10

301 - Discovering Your Ministry
This class is the third of San Marcos's four basic classes. Since these classes build on each other you should have already attended "Discovering My Membership #101" and "Discovering Spiritual Maturity #201" before taking this class. We are convinced that you must first be committed to membership in a church family and committed to the habits for spiritual maturity before you are ready for ministry. Membership and Maturity are the foundation for Ministry.
What God made you to BE determines what He intends for you to DO. You will understand the purpose you were created for when you understand the kind of person you are. This is the secret of knowing God's will for your life! God is consistent in His plan for each of our lives. He would not give us inborn talents and temperaments, spiritual gifts, and all sorts of life experiences and then not use them! By reviewing and studying these factors, we can discover the ministry God has for us... the unique way God intends for us to serve him. |

Follow Up with SALT
Once you have committed to a ministry, San Marcos doesn't just leave you out there to fend for yourself!
All 301 graduates are expected to attend quarterly San Marcos Advanced Leadership Training seminars.
These seminars begin with a short presentation on a topic each "minister" can use. This is followed by a time of sharing the successes each graduate has experienced since the last meeting and any needs they have for their ministry to succeed. Each meeting is ended with a time of prayer that each of us can help carry the prayer burden for the group together. |
